CHICAGO — The Green Bay Packers are headed to town for the NFC championship game and Chicago Bears fans are starting to become, well, a bit unbearable. Turn on Chicago radio and you’ll hear no shortage of jokes about Packers fans, many have something to do with low intelligence. There’s been plenty of laughs over a Green Bay newspaper headline that read “On To Chicaco.” Many more center on the dietary habits like this one: What do you call a 400-pound Packer fan? Anorexic.

On JFK 50th, Kennedy family gathers in Washington

Nintendo 3DS out in March

Promising to usher in a new era in 3-D entertainment, Nintendo says its glasses-free handheld 3DS will go on sale March 27 in the U.S. for $250. That’s the same price that the revolutionary Wii console cost when it went on sale in 2006.

A kinder, gentler, Cowell-less ‘Idol’ debuts

“American Idol” returned Wednesday with a makeover for its 10th season on Fox. Simon Cowell, everyone’s favorite villain, is gone as a judge. So are Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres, replaced with the star power of Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler. Original judge Randy Jackson remains. The first two-hour episode accentuated the positive, an indication that producers are setting a different tone.

Gay, White power No. 6 San Diego State to victory over Air Force

SAN DIEGO — D.J. Gay scored 20 points, and former Green Valley High School standout Billy White had 10 of his 12 during a decisive 13-3 run as No. 6 San Diego State beat Air Force 68-55 on Wednesday night to extend the country’s longest active winning streak to a school-record 20 games.
