Green Valley sophomore Steele Dias won the 106-pound state championship to help the Gators to their sixth consecutive state title Saturday at Spanish Springs High School.
Having won five consecutive state championships, Green Valley coach Jon Ferry might have expected to feel comfortable with a lead after the first day of the Class 4A state tournament. But Ferry wasn’t feeling so secure as his team prepared to leave the gym after Friday’s semifinal round at Spanish Springs.
Arbor View’s Peyton Prussin beat Ryan Mitchell of Spring Valley 10-6 to take third place in the Class 4A Sunset Region tournament at Cimarron-Memorial and clinch the Aggies’ second straight region title before the championship matches started.
Sophomore Peyton Prussin went 2-0 at 106 pounds on Friday and is one of nine Arbor View wrestlers who advanced to the semifinals of the Class 4A Sunset Region tournament at Cimarron-Memorial.
