Gorman (39-4) turned back a determined and aggressive Reno (22-4) squad to claim its second state championship in three years with a 25-22, 25-13, 25-16 win.

The Gaels overpowered the Panthers to secure a 25-17, 25-17, 25-14 victory before an engaged crowd in the first Southern Nevada championship match at Coronado.
Palo Verde dominated league rival Faith Lutheran for a 25-19, 25-20, 25-21 victory on Friday night.
Gorman used its dominant front line to down the Cougars, 25-15, 25-19, 25-15. The Gaels’ march continues at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Southern Regional final.
Faith Lutheran needed only 75 minutes to down Rancho 25-20, 25-18, 25-18 in the Class 4A Mountain Region semifinals at Eldorado.
The host Cougars, trailing 12-8 in the decisive fifth set, rattled off seven consecutive points and eked out a 20-25, 25-21, 15-25, 25-17, 15-12 victory over the Trailblazers. Coronado advanced to the Desert Region championship against Bishop Gorman.
Kamry Bailey had 13 kills and 10 digs on Thursday to lead Boulder City’s girls volleyball team to a 25-12, 25-14, 25-19 sweep of host Pahrump Valley in the Class 3A Southern Region semifinals.
