Free backpacks and school supplies were distributed to 568 Las Vegas Valley children in protective custody on Thursday at an event that also provided caregivers with access to other resources.
Students presented their concerns about school safety to a panel of nine community leaders during the School Safety Summit held Friday at the Clark County Government Center in downtown Las Vegas.
