Nevada passed a major milestone in its battle against the coronavirus on Friday as it passed the 50 percent mark for vaccination of eligible residents.

Nevada on Friday reported 1,280 new coronavirus cases and 40 additional deaths, according to the Department of Health and Human Services.
New data from the state Department of Health and Human Services shows second-straight decrease in new cases average, as hospital group sees signs the surge is slowing.
The state also recorded 1,125 new COVID-19 cases over the preceding day, and has now logged at least 1,000 cases of the disease in 10 of its last 11 daily updates.
