Centennial swept both genders in the Class 4A state track meet at Foothill on Saturday, winning the seventh consecutive state title for the girls, and fourth in six years for the boys.
Troy Bell finished with 45 digs to lead Foothill’s boys volleyball team to a 25-21, 19-25, 25-20, 21-25, 17-15 road win over Basic on Thursday.
Corrigan Neville scored twice Thursday to lead Bishop Gorman’s boys soccer team to a 3-1 home win over Durango.
Nick Tapuala won the discus at the Division I state track and field meet with a mark of 178 feet, 9 inches despite unfavorable conditions at Carson High and became the third Liberty thrower to take home a state title in the event since 2011.

Cimarron-Memorial senior shortstop Niko Decolati has been named the Division I Southern Nevada Player of the Year by area baseball coaches. He hit .411 with 10 home runs and 25 RBIs this season for the Spartans.
Coronado junior Basia Query has been named the Southeast League”s Most Valuable Player. She hit .452 with 12 doubles and 36 RBIs for the Cougars, who won the Southeast softball title. Query floated between catcher and shortstop, depending on where her team needed her.
Faith Lutheran’s Julia Becker was the most dominant girls golfer in the state this fall.
