RENO — Sam Sholeff and Skylar Davidson of Bishop Gorman spent most of the season playing singles until deciding before the Sunset Region tournament that their best chances at the state tournament would be to join forces.

The doubles teams of Travis Norland and Dustin Leavitt, and Lucas Cordova and John David both went 3-0 Wednesday to help Arbor View’s boys tennis team to a 10-8 win over visiting Desert Oasis.
Chloe Henderson went 3-0 in singles Monday as Palo Verde’s girls tennis team completed a regular-season sweep of host Bishop Gorman with a 14-4 victory.
The doubles teams of Devin Diesko and Catherine Arizmendez, and Sara Long and Keara Lawson both went 2-1 on Tuesday, and Arbor View’s girls tennis team edged host Cimarron-Memorial, 10-9.
Austin Michals went 3-0 in singles Wednesday to help Legacy’s boys tennis team to an 11-7 win at Shadow Ridge.
The doubles teams of Elle Johnsong and Rethika Kumar, and Megan Madrid and Olivia Nhaisi each went 3-0 on Monday to help Green Valley’s girls tennis team to an 11-7 win over visiting Coronado.
Mackay Boman and John John each went 3-0 in singles Thursday to help Green Valley’s boys tennis team to a 10-8 win at Basic.
Sydnie Roberts and Vivien Ross went 3-0 in doubles Friday, and Cimarron-Memorial’s girls tennis team won four of six tiebreaker games to nip visiting Las Vegas, 10-9.
Last season Nathalia Luna picked up a tennis racket for the first time and was the only member of the Western girls tennis team. This year, she has reinforcements.
