Mountain View (Utah), made up of all upperclassmen, shot 52 percent from the floor Wednesday en route to a 73-56 victory over host Desert Oasis’ boys basketball team in the second annual Tri-State Invitational.
Geoff Faries led Basic with 20 points, including a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line as the Wolves held off Provo (Utah) 63-59 to go 2-0 on the first day of the Tri-State Holiday Invitational at Desert Oasis.
Las Vegas battled back from as many as 16 points down in the second half Tuesday but couldn’t find an answer for Trevin Knell and lost 69-58 to Woods Cross (Utah) in the third-place game of the Eastbay Division at Bishop Gorman.
