Bishop Gorman saw a nine-point lead fizzle away in the final 4:43 of regulation and went on to lose 86-79 in overtime to nationally ranked Mater Dei (California) in the semifinals of the Tarknanian Classic’s Platinum Division.
Faith Lutheran gave up an 18-6 scoring run at the end of the first half and couldn’t get enough stops late in a 73-61 loss to ThunderRidge (Colorado) in the winner’s bracket of the Tarkanian Classic Eastbay Division at Bishop Gorman.
The fifth annual Tarkanian Classic, which has become one of the nation’s preeminent holiday basketball events, opens Thursday with 12 showcase games at Bishop Gorman.
