The Skyhawks seemingly contend for a state team title every five years, and Saturday was no different as they overcame injuries and wintry conditions to claim the championship at the Division I state track and field meet at Carson High.
Nick Tapuala won the discus at the Division I state track and field meet with a mark of 178 feet, 9 inches despite unfavorable conditions at Carson High and became the third Liberty thrower to take home a state title in the event since 2011.

Tiare Lee went 4-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBIs on Friday to help Rancho’s softball team clinch the Division I Sunrise League title with an 11-4 win over visiting Foothill.
