Nick Cornman went 3-for-3 to lead Arbor View’s 11-hit attack in a 13-6 home victory over Cimarron-Memorial in a winner’s bracket semifinal Tuesday.
Basic’s junior pitcher was in control from the start, tossing a six-hitter and striking out 10 to help the Wolves to a 7-1 home win over Liberty in the winners’ bracket semifinals of the Desert Region Tournament.
Benjamin Sawaia carded a 1-over-par 73 at Mountain Falls on Thursday to help Coronado’s boys golf team grab the lead after the first round of the Pahrump Valley Invitational.

Vernon Jackson won the long jump with ease with an effort of 23-2, and Silverado’s boys track team scored 43 points to take a 15-point lead over Green Valley after the first day of the Division I Sunrise Region meet at Del Sol.
Centennial junior Karina Haymore won just two cross country meets all season.
Fortunately for Haymore, the second win came in the biggest race of the year.
After watching her team commit two errors in the third inning and already trailing in its Sunset Region tournament game Thursday, Palo Verde coach Kelly Glass pulled the Panthers down the right-field line for a brief tongue-lashing.
