Four players scored in double-figures at Bishop Gorman overcame its early struggles to defeat Centennial 63-39 on the road in its Class 5A league opener Tuesday night.

Both are Class 5A state volleyball semifinalists, but Gorman has been the state’s top program in the past five seasons, while Centennial has been rebuilding this season.
The Bishop Gorman boys and Centennial girls are clear favorites once again, but there are some sleepers that could do some damage in the postseason.

With a talented group of underclassmen, Coronado scored 449 points Friday to roll to the Class 4A Desert Region title at UNLV.
The Cougars finished with 452 points to claim the title. Green Valley finished second with 444 points, and Bishop Gorman finished third with 284 points.
