GIRLS BASKETBALL: Matlock, Wildcats edge past Eldorado

Bianca Matlock had 17 points, and Armonnie Byrd added 10 points and 12 rebounds on Tuesday to help Las Vegas’ girls basketball team to a 51-47 win over visiting Eldorado.

TENNIS: Mojave girls clinch first postseason berth

The doubles teams of Miranda Sanders and Nina Dreyer, and Poleth Rodriguez and Sharrah Kenyon each went 2-0 on Wednesday as Mojave’s girls clinched the first postseason tennis berth in school history with an 11-5 win at Sierra Vista.

CROSS COUNTRY: Blaine helps Mustangs edge Centennial boys

Johnathon Blaine won a 3.1-mile race in 16 minutes, 52.1 seconds on Tuesday to help Shadow Ridge’s boys cross country team nip Centennial and win a six-team meet at Lone Mountain Park.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: Bonds, Bulldogs hold off Mustangs

Talie Bonds had eight kills, 26 assists, 23 digs and three aces Wednesday as host Centennial outlasted Shadow Ridge, 26-24, 22-25, 14-25, 25-22, 15-13, in a matchup of two of the top girls volleyball teams in the Sunset Region.

VOLLEYBALL: Longhorns prevail in four sets

Saipeti Fuiava had 13 kills, three aces and three digs, and Myah Maxwell had 14 kills and eight digs to lead Legacy’s girls volleyball team to a 25-8, 32-30, 21-25, 25-19 win over visiting Basic on Wednesday.
