Centennial’s Justice Ethridge scored 28 points Friday as the Bulldogs’ girls basketball team used a strong second quarter to pull away from Christ the King (N.Y.) for a 78-55 win in their season opener in the Art Turner Memorial in Fairfax, Virginia.

Palo Verde’s Annick Haczkiewicz carded a record 9-under-par 63 on Monday at Siena Golf Club to earn medalist honors and overshadow Bishop Gorman winning its fourth straight Sunset Region title.
Omar Rubio led the way, as he once again edged Arbor View’s Ian Jackson at the end to win the 3.1-mile race. Rubio sprinted away in the final 300 meters to win in 16 minutes, 24.4 seconds. Jackson finished second in 16:26.9.
