Green Valley’s boys and Coronado’s girls won the Class 4A Sunrise regional cross country team titles on Friday morning at Veterans Memorial Park.

Arbor View’s Keith Williams led at the front of a pack of five runners early. Eventually, he managed to hold off PahrumpValley’s Bryce Odegard and Centennial’s Alexander Miller in the final quarter mile, putting in a good finishing kick to cross the line in 16 minutes and 13 seconds.
Milton Amezcua cruised to victory in the 3.1-mile boys varsity race at the Lake Mead Invitational at Veterans Memorial Park with a time of 16 minutes, 48 seconds to lead the Gators to a team victory with 51 points.
Coronado’s Tom Dougherty and Eddie Smisson took the top two spots in the sophomore boys race to lead the Cougars to the team title at the Bud O’Dea Classic on Tuesday at Desert Breeze.
Coronado’s girls cross country team had four of the top seven finishers on Tuesday to win a six-team meet at Sonata Park.
Arbor View’s Keith Williams won a 3.1-mile race at Palo Verde on Tuesday to lead the Aggies to victory in a seven-team meet.
Coronado’s boys cross country team took four of the top five spots Tuesday to win a five-team meet at Sonata Park.
Runners from out-of-state schools took the top spots in both the boys and girls races at Sunset Park on Saturday morning.
On Saturday, Green Valley’s Milton Amezcua had the biggest moment of his high school career, winning the junior-senior boys race at the Labor Day Classic at Palo Verde with a time of 16 minutes, 40 seconds for 3.1 miles.
Coronado’s Tom Dougherty finished Tuesday’s 2.5-mile race in 13 minutes, 44.82 seconds to help the Cougars’ boys cross country team win a weekday meet at Foothill.
Bryce Odegard from Pahrump Valley’s boys cross country team completed the 3-mile race at Floyd Lamb Park on Saturday in 15 minutes, 36 seconds to win the Red Rock Invitational Sunset Meet.
The Cougars welcome back four runners who competed in last year’s Class 4A state meet.
