Henderson man gets life in prison in beating death of mother

A 53-year-old Henderson man was sentenced to life in prison for beating his mother to death in 2009. The same Clark County jury that convicted Richard Kravetz of first-degree murder and other charges sentenced him to the life prison term on Thursday.

Pet store owner goes to court, halts adoption of puppies in arson case

The 27 puppies nearly burned in a January arson will remain caged after an eleventh-hour restraining order and lawsuit halted their adoption raffle. Prince and Princess Pet Boutique filed a temporary restraining order Friday to stop the raffle by the Animal Foundation, which has sheltered the puppies since the pet shop owner was charged with trying to burn down the store.

Body found at Amargosa Valley dairy

A 25-year-old man was found dead under suspicious circumstances Thursday night at Ponderosa Dairy in Amargosa Valley, the Nye County sheriff’s office said. Nye County police responded to a 911 call just after 9 p.m. and found the man’s body.

Nevada prison inmate dies in Reno

A 62-year-old Nevada inmate died of a medical condition Wednesday in Reno, prison officials said Friday. Herminio Salinas was serving four to 15 years for attempted lewdness with a minor. Salinas had been in prison since August 2012.
