FIELDER’S CHOICES: Intrigue abounds on best week of season

This is my favorite week of the prep football season.

The Division I-A Southern Region playoffs begin, there are two league titles up for grabs, and all the games are Thursday because of Nevada Day.

TENNIS: Mojave girls clinch first postseason berth

The doubles teams of Miranda Sanders and Nina Dreyer, and Poleth Rodriguez and Sharrah Kenyon each went 2-0 on Wednesday as Mojave’s girls clinched the first postseason tennis berth in school history with an 11-5 win at Sierra Vista.

GOLF: Potter, Eagles take Sunrise League match

Lani Potter carded a 3-over-par 75 at Wildhorse on Wednesday to help Boulder City’s girls golf team win a Sunrise League match.

VOLLEYBALL: Longhorns outlast Rams

Myah Maxwell had 20 kills and 11 digs, and Saipeti Fuiava added 19 kills and 14 digs to lead Legacy’s girls volleyball team to a 22-25, 25-19, 25-23, 22-25, 15-9 victory over host Rancho on Monday.

TENNIS: Doubles teams help Las Vegas boys edge Liberty

The doubles teams of Trey Chauncey and Kyle Monton, and Jonathan Sosa and Trevor Christiansen each went 3-0 on Monday as Las Vegas’ boys tennis team nipped visiting Liberty, 10-9.

BOYS SOCCER: Dragons upend No. 4 Tech

Diego Nieves and Ruben Ortiz each scored a goal Wednesday to lead Del Sol’s boys soccer team to a 2-1 road win over No. 4 Tech.

TENNIS: Doubles teams lift Bonanza girls past Arbor View

The doubles teams of Brittany Bates and Emmalee Glover, and Abby Lords and Caroline Thuet both went 3-0 on Friday to help host Bonanza’s girls tennis team edge Arbor View, 10-8.
