Summer Food Service Program offers kids free meals across valley

There is no reason for a child to go hungry this summer. Free breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack are being offered at dozens of locations across the Las Vegas Valley as part of the Summer Food Service Program sponsored by Three Square food bank, the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas and other community partners.

Hewetson principal earns spot in Nevada Public Education Foundation Hall of Fame

Lucy Keaton helped transform what was one of the lowest performing elementary schools in Las Vegas into an exemplary turn around school, the state’s highest academic designation. During the six years Keaton has been at the school, Hewetson has met adequate yearly progress standards four years running and had gains of at least 10 percent in student achievement on standardized tests every year.
