Bishop Gorman saw a nine-point lead fizzle away in the final 4:43 of regulation and went on to lose 86-79 in overtime to nationally ranked Mater Dei (California) in the semifinals of the Tarknanian Classic’s Platinum Division.
Bella Cipili completed 11 of 17 passes for 114 yards, including two touchdown passes to Hennessy Elkins, as the Green Valley flag football team used 19 second-half points to down Desert Oasis on the road, 26-13.
Keelan Wickersham poured in a game-high 25 points, and Spring Valley’s boys basketball team rallied to turn back visiting Bonanza 74-67 on Tuesday.

Centennial junior Alexis Gourrier won the Sunset regional cross country championship and helped the Bulldogs to the team title.
Green Valley senior Omar Rubio won the Sunrise regional cross country meet as the Gators coasted to the team championship.
Rachel Klopfer had 10 kills and 12 digs Monday to power the Green Valley girls volleyball team past Basic, 25-18, 25-9, 25-19.
Halle Watson and Savannah Villanueva each scored a goal for the Spring Valley girls soccer team Monday as the Grizzlies blanked Durango 2-0.
Kapono Maruyama scored midway through the first half, and Foothill’s boys soccer team held on for a 1-0 home win over Coronado on Monday.
Audrey Boch-Collins of Clark, Ben Gajardo of Desert Oasis, Mike Safbom and Brandon Sulzberg of Palo Verde, and and Emma Figuerdo and Angelique Friedrich of Bishop Gorman all won state championships Saturday to provide a clean sweep for the Sunset Region.
