A West Prep Academy eighth-grade teacher whose behavior alarmed colleagues is accused of inappropriately touching a student who wrote him a love letter, according to his arrest report.

The district is currently short about 18 mental health care providers for the district’s students, in large part because the salaries aren’t commensurate with their level of education.
School officials were tipped off to the threats by the 14-year-olds on Jan. 22 and immediately contacted school police, according to a message sent to parents Monday by West Career and Technical Academy’s principal.
