El Varaderito on South Decatur Boulevard opened in June. The restaurant is named after Varadero, Cuba, a beach resort town east of Havana known for its 13 miles of white-sand beaches.

PizzaRev, a fast-casual pizza concept that started in Los Angeles, opened three Las Vegas Valley restarants in the past year and a half.Two are in the southwest valley, and one is in Henderson.
Ten months later than planned, Kitchen Table Squared will open to the public on Monday. The restaurant, in the Gramercy complex near the Russell Road exit of the 215 Beltway, is a west Las Vegas spinoff of Henderson’s popular breakfast and lunch spot Kitchen Table. Unlike the original, however, it will be open for dinner.
The Jewish couple keeps kosher and saw an opportunity in the market for a high-end kosher restaurant, Ellie Edison said. They came up with the concept in August and, along with friends and co-owners Danny and Diva Saghian, opened the restaurant in October.
The restaurant was founded by Martin and Patricia Rangel, who emigrated from the western Mexico state of Jalisco in the 1980s. The restaurant has nine locations in Arizona, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada.
The fast-casual Mexican restaurant has been serving up burritos, tacos, salads and aguas frescas at The District at Green Valley Ranch since April 2016. Co-owners Chris Connors and Li Hsun Sun opened the doors at their second location on South Durango Driveon Nov. 17.
Fan is adamant that machine-made noodles make a better dish. They’re “more consistent than any handmade noodles can ever be,” Fan said. The machine mixes the dough evenly and rolls the dough to an electronically-measured thickness, resulting in a consistent cook each time, Fan said.
The Las Vegas location serves rice bowls, burritos, tacos and salads. Rice bowls come in three sizes — keiki ($6), regular ($8) and large ($10) — and include Hawaii teriyaki chicken, sesame chicken, boneless and bone-in beef, pork and pork belly, tofu and teriyaki vegetables.
“Food Network Star” alumnus Victor “Vic Vegas” Moea will take his 7 Sinful Subs to the southwest valley early next year. He tells us a lease has been signed for the sandwich shop to be located at Fort Apache Road and Tropicana Avenue. Look for it to open in January. One big difference at this spot, the chef tells us, will be that “you can have a damn beer with a knuckle sandwich now.”
There are plenty of tonkatsu (pork-based) ramen shops out there, the Kims said, and it’s likely the most popular ramen dish in the U.S. But there’s beauty to a lighter chicken broth, they said.

Unlike donations to Three Square, a nonprofit food bank, this food has been “rescued” from grocery stores. Three Square’s food-rescue program is one example of how nonprofits and businesses in Las Vegas are helping reduce food waste, while feeding families in need.
Cheba Hut, a pot-themed sub shop based out of Fort Collins, Colorado, opened its first Nevada location in the Sahara Rainbow Center in September. Appropriately, it is next to The Source marijuana dispensary.
Rainbow Robindale Plaza south of Interstate 215 has had quite a few Asian restaurants open in the past couple of years. YuXiang Korean Chinese Cuisine is the latest.
