Coronado defeated Galena and Faith Lutheran stopped McQueen in the Class 5A girls state soccer semifinals Friday at Spanish Springs High School in Sparks.

Coronado is embracing being the favorite to win the Class 5A state championship after its 2-0 win over Faith Lutheran in last Saturday’s regional final.
The Coronado girls shut out Faith Lutheran 2-0, and the Palo Verde boys doubled up Coronado 4-2 to win the Class 5A Southern Region tournament.
No. 1 Coronado and No. 2 Faith Lutheran, who met for the 2019 state championship, will face off for the Class 5A Southern Region title Saturday.
Sixth-seeded Desert Oasis advanced after a 1-1 tie against No. 3 Bishop Gorman with a 3-1 win in the shootout. The Diamondbacks face No. 2 Faith Lutheran next.
