4A TENNIS: Sunset Region sweeps state titles in Reno

Audrey Boch-Collins of Clark, Ben Gajardo of Desert Oasis, Mike Safbom and Brandon Sulzberg of Palo Verde, and and Emma Figuerdo and Angelique Friedrich of Bishop Gorman all won state championships Saturday to provide a clean sweep for the Sunset Region.

3A TENNIS: The Meadows boys, girls sweep state titles in Reno

The Meadows’ Daniel Pereira — the team’s No. 3 singles player — upset Boulder City’s Breton Erlanger 6-1 in the second round Friday to break a tie, remove a potential tiebreaker and help the Mustangs capture their first state title with a 10-8 win over the Eagles.

3A TENNIS: Lineup change pays off for Boulder City

Using two irregular doubles teams and a first-time singles player, Boulder City defeated South Tahoe 12-6 in a Class 3A boys state semifinal at Reno Tennis Center.

SUNSET TENNIS: Palo Verde boys, girls roll to region titles

Last year’s defending state singles champion was unavailable for Palo Verde on Wednesday, but the Panthers rolled to the Class 4A Sunset Region championship, beating Desert Oasis 12-6 at Darling Tennis Center.

3A TENNIS: The Meadows boys capture first region title

Nathaniel van der Post went 3-0 in singles to help The Meadows capture its first region title with an 11-7 win over Boulder City in the Southern Region championship at Darling Tennis Center.
