Proprietor Dutch Suskaneeyouth said the vegan options at Thailicious, a Thai-themed restaurant that opened in September,have proved popular.
The most popular dishes consist of a protein such as teriyaki chicken, barbecue chicken skewers or lechon kawali (crispy pork), served with corn on the cob, garlic java rice and barbecue sauce on the side for $7-$8.
The restaurant’s main dishes are kebab plates, which have meat on a bed of rice, served with pita and vegetables for $7-$12. Customers can choose from regular or ground beef, chicken and lamb; the most popular kebab is the mix, with chicken and ground beef shish kebabs for $14.
Fix8 also offers prepared meal plans, often used by people on a diet or following an exercise regimen. Fix8’s staff can answers questions or offer suggestions for customers. Meal-prep plans include 6, 9, 12 or 18 meals and range from $55-$218.
The restaurant offers molcajetes, bowls with grilled chicken and steak and chorizo, along with nopal, a cactus leaf, for $20. Bowls with shrimp, octopus, or a filet of fish and the nopal are $23. Classic Mexican dishes such as burritos and tacos go for $7-$9.
CraftHaus Brewery on Friday launched a beer branded as Silver State in observance of Nevada Day.
“In the beginning it was a little rough because everybody wants the regular chimichangas,” said Manuel Avendano, manager of the restaurant near Eastern Avenue at Silverado Ranch Boulevard. “Which is good, but we try to do a different menu.”
After working for 15 years at his uncle’s Thai restaurant, Komol, in Las Vegas, Dutch Sukaneeyouth opened Thailicious in Henderson.
After a winding road took Paul Lewis from holding executive chef positions at seafood restaurants and steakhouses in Washington, D.C., Virginia, Dallas and Thailand, he moved to Las Vegas this year and opened Tipp’s Cafe in August.
While Henderson has had Thai restaurants, a niche was being missed, said Jason Sugai, manager at Tom Yum Thai Kitchen.
It’s a fairly safe bet to say no one went home hungry after attending the Great American Foodie Fest.
The purple potato, a popular crop in the Philippines, is a favorite, healthy snack of manager Ramir DeCastro, and is the influence behind the Purple Potato restaurant, he said.
