The Basic secondary faces its biggest test when the Wolves (8-3) travel to Liberty (10-1) in the Sunrise Region championship game at 7 p.m. Friday.
Three title games involving Southern Nevada teams are on the docket. Basic and Liberty meet in the Class 4A Sunrise Region title game Friday for the third straight season, and the Class 3A and Class 1A finals are Saturday afternoon.

DeShawn Eagles and Frank Harris are the latest to shine at the receiver for the Wolves, and the seniors have emerged as one of the top receiving tandems in the valley through the first half of the season.
Sure enough, league play in the Class 4A Sunset Region and Class 3A starts this week, the true indicator that summer is done. Even Bishop Gorman is taking a break from irking out-of-state fanbases to play a Southwest League contest against Bonanza. (I didn’t include that game in my picks, but, spoiler alert, Gorman is going to win.)
