After an individual at a valley elementary school tested positive for tuberculosis, school officials are working with the Southern Nevada Health District to test impacted students and faculty.

Sophomore Ashari Hughes, 16, of Las Vegas, died on Jan. 5 after collapsing during a Desert Oasis flag football game against Valley.
“She loved music, dancing, and being around all the people she loved,” Ashari’s parents wrote in a statement. “She called football the real love of her life!”
Although Ashari Hughes had a medical issue, doctors had agreed the 16-year-old could play the game she called “the love of her life,” her father said.
The classroom-sized market will offer families no-cost items such as groceries, recipes, household products and school supplies.
The Desert Oasis High School student collapsed Thursday after a home game against Valley High School. She was hospitalized and died later that night.
Clark County School District Superintendent Jesus Jara said the district was the first large urban district to implement the buses.
