A 90-year-old Army veteran living at the Southern Nevada State Veterans home died this week from COVID-19 complications after being discharged from a local hospital.

Starting Saturday, eligible beneficiaries can access the exchange, commissary and food services. Access to the satellite pharmacy on the weekends will begin July 25.

Memorial Day ceremonies and Flag Placement Day events at Nevada Veterans Memorial cemeteries — one in Boulder City and one in Fernley — have been canceled.
The Nevada National Guard distributed nearly a million pieces of personal protective equipment to 22 Southern Nevada nursing and assisted living facilities this week.
The Nevada National Guard’s deployment in response to the state’s coronavirus crisis expanded sharply Tuesday and will now be the largest state activation in its history.
The Army Corps of Engineers said in a statement Saturday that it did assessments in Las Vegas, Reno and Carson City as a result of COVID-19.
None of the employees is currently hospitalized and some are in the process of being cleared to return to work, a statement from the agency said.
The Southern Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City has confirmed two additional cases, bringing the total number of infections at the facility to six.
Only essential personnel and people already living on base will be allowed to enter starting Monday
The new cases bring the total for Washoe County up to 25, including current cases and those who’ve recovered, according to a statement from the health district.
