A battering winter storm knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses across the United States on Saturday.

Tens of millions of Americans endured bone-chilling cold, power outages and canceled gatherings Friday from a storm that forecasters said was nearly unprecedented in its scope.
“It was the most intense earthquake that I’ve felt,” Rio Dell Mayor Debra Garnes said.
A flight from Phoenix to Honolulu carrying many people traveling for the holidays encountered severe turbulence shortly before landing, sending some unrestrained people and objects flying about the cabin and seriously injuring 11, officials and passengers said.
The chairman of the House committee investigating the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol said the former president “lost the 2020 election and knew it.”
About 2,400 servicemen were killed in the bombing, which launched the U.S. into World War II.
