Wednesday’s American Legion Western Regional game between the Desert Oasis Aces and Boulder (Colorado) was postponed after three innings because of rain and lightning in Boulder.
Not only do the Aces return some recent grads, like UNLV-bound shortstop Bryson Stott. Desert Oasis also welcomed back a pair of 2015 graduates in Keanu Van Kuren and Dominic Paratore, who recently completed their freshman seasons at McCook Community College in Nebraska. The Aces hope that experience gives them an edge when they begin play in the American Legion Western Regional at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Boulder, Colo.
The second-seeded Aces scored three runs in the top of the eighth and held on to beat the top-seeded Southern NevadaBlue Sox 5-3 to win the state championship at UNLV’s Wilson Stadium.
The Southern Nevada Blue Sox – comprised of players from Basic and Green Valley High Schools – defeated Centennial 12-2 Thursday night in the American Legion State Tournament at UNLV’s Wilson Stadium.
