Ryne Nelson threw a two-hit gem to lead host Basic to a 3-1 victory over Green Valley in an emotionally charged winner’s bracket final of the Division I Sunrise Region baseball tournament.
Boulder City right-hander Jacob Hubel allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four over seven innings as the Eagles shocked the defending region champion Faith Lutheran, 4-3. Hubel only needed 79 pitches to dispatch the Crusaders. He threw 52 strikes and 27 balls.
Brandon Burris tossed a five-inning no-hitter and struck out 15 on Thursday to help Pahranagat Valley’s baseball team to an 18-0 win over Tonopah in the opening round of the Division IV Southern Region playoffs at Alamo.
