Diego Delgado helps Cats stave off elimination in Connie Mack tourney

Right-hander Diego Delgado tossed a four-hitter and the Cats cruised to a 4-1 victory over the Las Vegas Mustangs in the Connie Mack state baseball tournament at CSN. They will face either the Las Vegas Crusaders or the Summerlin Panthers in another elimination game at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Squeeze bunt keys Faith Lutheran win in Connie Mack state tournament

Liam Bredin’s squeeze bunt with one out in the top of the sixth Monday scored Paul Shawn Pasqualotto to break a 2-2 tie and lift the Crusaders to a 3-2 victory over the Las Vegas Bengals in the Connie Mack state tournament at the College of Southern Nevada.

Braxton Wehrle’s two-out single to center field in the bottom of the eighth inning plated Bryce Ruggeroli with the winning run as Bishop Gorman’s baseball team rallied in both the seventh and eighth innings to edge visiting Shadow Ridge 7-6 on Tuesday.

Chris Opolka was 3-for-3 with a triple, and his RBI single in the bottom of the fifth broke a 7-7 tie as Shadow Ridge outslugged visiting Arbor View, 15-11.
