A late turnover helped the Bishop Gorman boys basketball team defeat Coronado to win the Class 5A state title Friday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Coronado and Bishop Gorman will play for the Class 5A boys basketball state title at 7 p.m. Friday after the teams were victorious in their state semifinals Thursday.
The top four Class 5A boys basketball teams — Coronado, Liberty, Bishop Gorman and Arbor View — will play for the state title Thursday and Friday at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Coronado led early and rolled to a home win over Bishop Gorman at the Big City Showdown on Saturday. The Centennial girls also earned a big victory over Gorman.
Bishop Gorman and Coronado’s boys basketball teams play at 8 p.m. Saturday to highlight the seven-game schedule at this year’s Big City Showdown at Coronado.
