Agassi Prep’s three best players were in foul trouble in the fourth quarter, making it hard to stop Needles from completing its comeback to win the Class 2A girls state title with a 64-54 victory.
Allen Merritt had 18 points, nine rebounds and four steals Saturday as Agassi Prep won its third state title in four years with a 60-43 victory over Adelson School in the Class 2A final at Cox Pavilion.

Capri Uzan scored 24 points to lead Desert Pines to a 69-46 victory over Cheyenne in the Class 3A boys basketball state title game Saturday at Cox Pavilion.
The Braves held Round Mountain junior Alyssa Hanks to an uncharacteristic 16 points as the Knights were unable to unseat the defending Class 1A state champions in a 65-37 loss to Owyhee at Cox Pavilion.
