Nicholas held off hard-charging Massimiliano Swenson of Bishop Gorman to become Desert Oasis’ first region cross country champion. The Diamondbacks also won the boys region team title, another first in school history.

Roundup: Las Vegas outslugs Palo Verde, 5-4

Las Vegas High scored twice in the final 10 minutes on Tuesday to pull out a 5-4 boys soccer victory over host Palo Verde.

Joel Sanchez scored two goals Wednesday as the Desert Pines boys soccer team eked out a win against visiting Eldorado, 3-2.

The doubles teams of Maggi Concannon and Matti Concannon, and Jocelyn Jauregui and Emily Pham each went 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon to lead Durango’s girls tennis team to a 10-5 win at Del Sol.
