Austin Wells hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning on Wednesday to help Bishop Gorman’s baseball team to a 9-7 home win over Riverton (Utah) in the Desert Classic.
Alex Olsen had 27 assists, seven digs and five aces, and Blake Thomas tallied seven kills, three digs and two aces Wednesday as Cimarron-Memorial’s boys volleyball team fought off host Bishop Gorman, 25-20, 16-25, 25-18, 25-10.
Arbor View’s Peyton Prussin beat Ryan Mitchell of Spring Valley 10-6 to take third place in the Class 4A Sunset Region tournament at Cimarron-Memorial and clinch the Aggies’ second straight region title before the championship matches started.

Sam Dickey shot an even-par 72 at Canyon Gate on Monday to help the Arbor View boys golf team to victory in a Northwest League match.
Caitlyn Stevenson was 2-0 in singles, and the doubles teams of Breanna Derflinger and Katey Roquemore, and Morgan Hawkins and Alyssa Miele each went 2-0 on Friday to help host Foothill’s girls tennis team down Rancho, 11-7.
The Aggies were the Northwest League”s No. 1 playoff seed last season but went 1-2, including a 21-7 loss to Palo Verde in the Sunset Region tournament that ended their season. Led by all-state shortstop Nick Quintana, Arbor View has high hopes for this season.
Sarah Pinkston was a second-team All-Nevada selection as a freshman at Shadow Ridge, but missed her sophomore season after back surgery. Amazingly, just less than 13 months after surgery, she”s back in the circle and hoping to lead Coronado to a Southeast League title.
