When I heard that Gary Player was going to pose naked for ESPN The Magazine’s annual Body Issue, the first thing that came to mind was those cardboard boxes with pinholes the smart kids made in third grade so they could safely view a solar eclipse.
When I last dropped in on the UNLV baseball team, on March 11, it was coming off a three-game sweep of mighty Stanford.
It was a beautiful Thursday afternoon, warm and sunny and idyllic, and the UNLV men’s tennis team was knocking the fuzz off the bright yellow-green ball against UNR.
It was a quarter of six Sunday, and the roar of the engines still was reverberating between my ears at Las Vegas Motor Speedway when I received a four-word alert that made my head spin some more.
