I-A GOLF: Magruder holds off Ancell for championship

Faith Lutheran’s Charlie Magruder withstood a late push from Pahrump Valley’s Austen Ancell and finished the tournament at 2-under-par 142 Wednesday to win his second Division I-A state championship at Mountain Falls.

DIVISION I GOLF: Trent, Panthers claim titles

Palo Verde’s Jack Trent shot 3-under-par 69 in the final round and finished with a two-round total of 5-under 139 to earn his second consecutive individual state title.

Eldorado’s Manganello enters state with strategy

Eldorado’s Matthew Manganello will try to carry the momentum from winning the Sunrise Region into the Division I state tournament, which begins at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reflection BayGolf Course. The Division I-A and Division III state tournaments tee off Tuesday at Mountain Falls Golf Club in Pahrump.

SUNRISE GOLF: Eldorado’s Manganello claims title in playoff

Eldorado freshman Matthew Manganello used a stretch of four consecutive birdies on his back nine to force a playoff, and he went on to defeat Coronado’s Grant McKay on the second extra hole to take medalist honors at the Division I Sunrise Region boys golf tournament.

I-A GOLF: Crusaders roll to fourth consecutive title

Four Crusaders improved on their first-round scores — and five shot in the 70s — as Faith Lutheran finished with a team score of 769 and ran away with the Division I-A Southern Region title by 77 strokes over Pahrump Valley at Siena Golf Club.
