Desert Oasis held off a late charge from reigning Class 5A baseball state champion Basic to clinch a spot in next week’s state tournament in Reno.
Ty Southisene gave Basic the early lead with a two-run double and pitched the seventh inning to earn the save in a 7-4 win over Desert Oasis.

The Centennial girls track team won eight events at the Heikotter Invitational at Faith Lutheran on Saturday, running away with the team score and defending its title from the last season. Centennial’s boys team won five events to win the meet, also winning for the second year in a row.
