Liberty surprised more than a few when it beat perennial contenders Green Valley and Coronado to win the Sunrise crown and will represent the region in the Division I state tournament, which begins Thursday at the Darling Tennis Center.

Eduardo Quintero-Rodriguez scored his second goal of the match with 23 minutes left to break a 1-1 tie and lift Canyon Springs’ boys soccer team to a 2-1 victory over visiting Liberty on Wednesday.
Kristi Chinn scored on a free kick, and teammate Megan Donnelly added a goal to help Faith Lutheran’s girls soccer team to a 2-0 win at Clark on Wednesday.
