I-A BASEBALL: Wishard’s 11th-inning homer lifts Boulder City to win

Austin Wishard hit a three-run home run on a 0-2 pitch with no outs in the bottom of the 11th inning Wednesday to lift Boulder City’s baseball team to a 5-2 win over Spring Valley in a winners’bracket semifinal of the Division I-A Southern Region tournament.

Clark keeps dream baseball season alive in Southern Region tournament

Clark (14-15) finished fourth in the Division I-A Sunset League to earn a berth in the Southern Region tournament, and will make its first postseason appearance since 2001 when it travels to Boulder City (21-7) at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Division I Sunrise and Sunset Region tournaments also begin Tuesday at host sites.

Durango’s baseball team plated three runs in the bottom of the second Friday and held on for a 4-3 home win over Faith Lutheran.

Jake Rogers pitched out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the bottom of the seventh to help Centennial’s baseball team escape with a 7-6 victory over host Cimarron-Memorial on Wednesday and give head coach Charlie Cerrone his 400th career win at the school.

Jorel Hingada’s RBI single with two outs in the top of the seventh inning sparked a four-run rally as Bishop Gorman’s baseball team escaped with a 5-2 win at Cimarron-Memorial and clinched at least a share of the Division I Sunset League title on Monday.

Zach Murphy drew a bases-loaded walk to force home Austin Wishard with the winning run with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning Friday as Boulder City’s baseball team rallied for a 5-4 win over visiting Spring Valley.

Jake Rogers’ two-out single in the third inning plated courtesy runner Josh Sierra with the eventual winning run Thursday as Centennial’s baseball team nipped visiting Legacy 2-1 in a game shortened to five innings by rain.
