Las Vegas battled back from as many as 16 points down in the second half Tuesday but couldn’t find an answer for Trevin Knell and lost 69-58 to Woods Cross (Utah) in the third-place game of the Eastbay Division at Bishop Gorman.
Bishop Gorman put together an impressive second-half rally before finally falling to Oklahoma’s Putnam City West 66-64 in the Tarkanian Classic’s Diamond Division third-place game at Durango.
Bishop Gorman saw a nine-point lead fizzle away in the final 4:43 of regulation and went on to lose 86-79 in overtime to nationally ranked Mater Dei (California) in the semifinals of the Tarknanian Classic’s Platinum Division.
Cimarron-Memorial’s Alyssa Karpinski caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Tiarra Del Rosario in overtime Wednesday to lift the host Spartans to a 26-20 win over Cheyenne.
Natalie Gennuso caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Sabrina Saldate with five seconds left in the game Thursday to lift host Las Vegas over Centennial 18-14.

A shoe falling off and a down day from its best runner dropped Centennial to second place at the Class 4A state cross country meet Saturday at Craig Ranch Park.
Centennial junior Alexis Gourrier won the Sunset regional cross country championship and helped the Bulldogs to the team title.
Green Valley senior Omar Rubio won the Sunrise regional cross country meet as the Gators coasted to the team championship.
Centennial’s boys cross country team had three of the top six runners on Monday to win the Bud O’Dea Classic freshman race at Desert Breeze.
Naomi Harris had 23 kills and eight digs Monday as Durango’s girls volleyball team outlasted host Sierra Vista, 21-25, 25-22, 25-27, 25-19, 19-17.
Megan Donnelly scored on a penalty kick in the final 30 seconds to lift Faith Lutheran’s girls soccer team to a 1-0 road win over Centennial on Monday.
