Nic Maccioni had 24 points Wednesday to lead Faith Lutheran’s boys basketball team to to a 90-79 road victory over Arbor View.
The Pahrump Valley girls basketball team took the lead in the game’s final 30 seconds Wednesday and did not allow several would-be game-winners to find the hoop as the Trojans held off host Boulder City for a 27-26 victory.

Sure enough, league play in the Class 4A Sunset Region and Class 3A starts this week, the true indicator that summer is done. Even Bishop Gorman is taking a break from irking out-of-state fanbases to play a Southwest League contest against Bonanza. (I didn’t include that game in my picks, but, spoiler alert, Gorman is going to win.)
Maris Nelson was 2-1 in singles for the Bonanza girls tennis team Tuesday, as the Bengals held off Durango at home on a tiebreaker, 10-9.

Aaliah Largusa had 10 kills, and Arien Fafard finished with nine kills and 22 assists as Palo Verde’s girls volleyball team rallied from a two-set hole to defeat visiting Legacy 13-25, 18-25, 25-16, 25-15, 15-11 on Tuesday.
Green Valley’s Grace Panik scored in the final 10 minutes of the first half Wednesday to break a tie, and the Gators topped visiting Shadow Ridge 2-1 in the Las Vegas Kick-Off.
