Roundup: Liberty takes down Spring Valley in 5 sets

Aiyana Evans tallied 17 assists and three aces for Liberty’s girls volleyball team Tuesday, and Alana Chun notched 17 digs as the host Patriots outlasted Spring Valley, 25-21, 20-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-7.

CARSON CITY — Waiting to swim the anchor leg of the boys 400-yard freestyle relay, Logan Houck had nothing to do but watch as Palo Verde teammate David Miller opened a two-second lead in the final event of the Division I state swimming and diving championships Saturday at Carson City Aquatic Facility.

SOFTBALL: Corn, Falcons down Coronado with four-run sixth

Jordan Corn went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and five RBIs on Thursday, and host Foothill’s softball team scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to top No. 2 Coronado, 11-9.

VOLLEYBALL: Nikodemus, Crusaders sweep Mountain Lions

Cayla Nikodemus had 14 kills and five digs Tuesday to help Faith Lutheran’s girls volleyball team to a 25-23, 25-23, 25-19 win over visiting Sierra Vista.
