League play begins for Class 5A, 4A and 3A high school football teams this week, which means the playoff picture will come into focus in the next five weeks.

Silverado overcame a tough test from Coronado by scoring the game’s final 22 points in a 32-14 win to remain No. 1 in the Review-Journal’s Class 4A football rankings.
Silverado struggled offensively against Sierra Vista but still cruised to a 36-7 win. The Skyhawks host No. 5 Coronado, and No. 2 Shadow Ridge welcomes No. 3 Desert Oasis.
No. 1 Silverado was off last week, and No. 2 Shadow Ridge held off Durango. No. 3 Coronado, No. 4 Desert Oasis and new No. 5 Clark posted impressive wins.
