SOFTBALL: Pochop’s arm guides Rancho by Coronado

Samantha Pochop tossed a five-hitter and struck out 12 on Thursday to lead Rancho’s softball team to a 1-0 win over visiting Coronado in a matchup of the top two teams in the Division I Sunrise League.

Tatum Spangler went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBIs to help the Coronado softball team to a 13-4 win over Frontier (Calif.) on Thursday in the Torrance National Tournament in Torrance, California.

Winning pitcher Skylar Gorrell was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and the Las Vegas High softball team rallied from a 5-2 sixth-inning deficit to earn an 11-7 win at Green Valley on Monday.

SOFTBALL: Legacy tops Faith Lutheran for tournament title

Alyssa Spencer went 2-for-3 with two RBIs Saturday to help the Legacy softball team to a 6-4 win over Faith Lutheran in the championship game of the Colorado River Invitational in Needles, California.

SOFTBALL: Bilodeau’s hit lifts Gaels in tournament opener

Kasey Bilodeau had a two-out single to right-center field with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning Thursday to plate Ashley Witucki with the winning run as the Bishop Gorman softball team nipped Woods Cross (Utah) 5-4 in the opening game of the Kick Off the Season tournament at Gorman.
