Michaela Hood pitched three innings of relief and went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs scored and three RBIs to help Spring Valley’s softball team to a 13-3 win over Boulder City in six innings in the winners’ bracket final of the Division I-A state tournament Friday at Shadow Mountain in Sparks.

I-A SOFTBALL: Michaela Hood guides Spring Valley to victory

Michaela Hood tossed a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts and hit the go-ahead, two-run double in the fourth inning Thursday to rally Spring Valley’s softball team to a 9-2 victory over Churchill County in the opening round of the Division I-A state tournament at Shadow Mountain in Sparks.

Only spiders have slowed down Spring Valley’s march to softball title

Spring Valley (25-3) will play in the program’s first state tournament game when it faces Churchill County (25-4) in the Division I-A tournament at 5 p.m. Thursday at Shadow Mountain in Sparks. Boulder City (29-9) faces Fernley (25-6-1) at 7 p.m. in the other first-round game.

I-A SOFTBALL: Spring Valley nips Sierra Vista

Marlena Adras singled home Madison Hood with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fourth, and Spring Valley held on to edge visiting Sierra Vista 3-2 on Wednesday in the Division I-A Southern Region softball tournament.

Grizzlies grab first league title

Michaela Hood tossed a one-hitter and went 3-for-4 with four RBIs as Spring Valley secured the first league title in the program’s history with a 6-1 win at Sierra Vista.
