Pahranagat Valley’s boys basketball team built an 18-point lead by the end of the first quarter and cruised to a 68-29 victory over Owyhee in the Class 1A state semifinals Friday at Durango.
Culen Highbe poured in 27 points, and the Panthers never trailed in downing Spring Mountain, 51-33 in the Class 1A Southern League final at Sunrise Mountain on Saturday.
Senior Tabor Maxwell scored a game-high 23 points in only 15 minutes of action Friday before handing it off to younger brothers — junior Brodey and sophomore Stockton — in the second half in Pahranagat Valley’s 74-29 win over Beatty in a Class 1A Southern Region semifinal at Sunrise Mountain.
