With a talented group of underclassmen, Coronado scored 449 points Friday to roll to the Class 4A Desert Region title at UNLV.
The Cougars finished with 452 points to claim the title. Green Valley finished second with 444 points, and Bishop Gorman finished third with 284 points.
Garrett Giles spun a five-inning, three-hit shutout Friday to lead Basic’s baseball team to a 13-0 victory over Mountain Pointe (Arizona) in the Boras Classic in Phoenix.
Megan Donnelly scored on a penalty kick in the final 30 seconds to lift Faith Lutheran’s girls soccer team to a 1-0 road win over Centennial on Monday.
