Desert Pines capped the Division I-A state track and field meet in style Saturday at chilly Carson High, lowering its own meet record in the 1,600 relay on the way to the school’s first team title.
Desert Pines’ Amari Calvillo-Tatum topped teammate Artis McCoy in the boys 200- and 400-meter runs to help the Jaguars surge into first place after the opening day of the Division I-A state meet.
Artise McCoy won three individual events Friday and Saturday to lead Desert Pines’ boys track team to the title at the Division I-A Southern Region meet at Boulder City.
Faith Lutheran’s Michelle Reiss set a meet record in the pole vault and won the long jump Friday to lead the Crusaders to the team title at the Grant Bushman Invitational in Overton.
Hannah Atkerson and Rachel Neff each won two individual events Tuesday to help the Foothill girls track team to a 106-72 win over visiting Silverado.
Jeron Bodin and Justin Meeks each won an individual event and finished second in another to help the Foothill boys track win a three-team meet at Valley on Tuesday.
Madison Aldred won three individual events Tuesday to lead the Arbor View girls track team to victory in a three-team meet at Bonanza.
Kaitlin Gibb won two individual events Saturday to help the Arbor View girls track team capture the Liberty Invitational.
Alexis Gourrier won the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs Saturday to lead the Centennial girls track team to the title at the Heitkotter Invitational at Faith Lutheran.
