Former UNLV men’s basketball coach Rollie Massimino, who led Villanova’s storied run to the 1985 NCAA championship and won more than 800 games in his career, died Wednesday after a long battle with cancer. He was 82.

Forward Dwayne Morgan, who was suspended from the team, no longer will play basketball at UNLV. He will continue to attend classes and get his college degree in December.
UNLV announced contract extensions for six coaches Friday, including one for women’s basketball coach Kathy Olivier through the 2020-21 season.
Austin Starr, who played basketball at UNLV and Foothill High School, has transferred to Prairie View A&M. He played for College of Southern Idaho last season.

Former UNLV basketball player Tyrell Green has signed with the Swedish pro team Norrkoping Dolphins. Green, a 6-foot 7-inch forward, averaged 11.7 points and 5.5 rebounds last season for the Rebels.
Former UNLV and Bishop Gorman High School standout Stephen Zimmerman Jr. has signed with the Los Angeles Lakers.
When the Lady Rebels hit the court this November, they’ll be up against a difficult nonconference schedule.
